9 Learning Fun Games For Your Child

Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.

In this article, we give you another guide which will help the children learn and enjoy playing. From the different websites of the net, we give you the kindergarten games which helps children build a foundation for English, Math, reading comprehension, puzzle solving and more, in a fun and engaging way.

Most kids will learn from these kindergarten games, but kinesthetic learners, or children who learn through actions, will benefit most from learning through play.

We will now give 9 fun games for Kids.

  • ALPHABET EXPRESS FLOOR PUZZLE

According to Melissa & Doug, alphabet game is very easy and fun.  The child just need to buy or create a floor puzzle carpet with missing alphabet letters on the middle so your child will be the one to fill the puzzle or the missing alphabet. This helps your child familiarize the alphabet and memorize them from A-Z.

  • MUSICAL CHAIR GAME

According to Instructables, this is a traditional game for kids especially during birthday parties but it can be done anywhere with chairs! You can invite your neighbor’s kids, arrange the chairs in circle and prepare a CD with children’s songs. The game starts when the children march round in round while the music is playing,  when the music stops, every kid needs to find a chair to seat.

Every round, pull out one chair so there’s odd number of chairs from the number of participants. The kid who don’t have a chair to seat will be the one to continue singing the nursery rhyme, while doing hula hoop.

  • GUESS THE ANIMAL AND NAME THE SOUND

According to Junior Explorers, this is an easy guessing game where kids will learn a lot. Before letting your child play this game, let him/her watch videos of animals and their sounds. You just need colored pictures of the animal and and let the child guess the name and how the animal sounds, examples like: dog=Aw! Aw! If they can’t name the animal or imitate its sound, another child will be the one to do so.

  • COUNT THE CHOCOLATE COINS

Here is a game that will fill the sweet tooth of the kids but also teach them numbers. The parents just need to buy chocolate coins, usually color gold and simply let the child count the numbers of chocolates. The number of chocolate he/she can count will be the chocolates he/she can have. So if the child can only count 2, he will only be given 2 chocolates. This will help the child motivated in learning how to count, because the more chocolates, the merrier.12 Article 1

  • COLORING JUNGLE BOOK

In this fun activity, the parents just need to buy a jungle book or storybook with animals, trees, flowers, fruits, etc and crayons. Let the child color the storybook to test if the baby can recognize each object with their proper colors. This will help kids know the real colors of each each things.

  • TREASURE BOX or Scavenger Hunt

According to Parents.com, this treasure box hunting game will be very exciting for kids. The  parents just need to have a big empty box and put scratch papers, cut-off cartolinas and many toys and objects that DOESN’T HAVE GEOMETRICAL SHAPE; Samples: animals, barbies, cars, etc.

In this treasure hunt game, the treasure that kids will find are the geometrical objects and special shapes such as diamond, heart, pyramid, rectangle, square, heart, circle, spade, star, triangle, cube,cone, etc. This game teaches the kids about geometrical figures and shapes.

  • SING & DANCE THE NURSERY RHYME

According to Michael Sizer article in the website, PBS Parents, it is described and discussed as an activity that is a very common and artistic game which teaches kids to sing the nursery rhyme with creative dance moves. This enhances their artistic and performing skills. To motivate your child to do their best, you can invite other kids to perform and the best performer will have a reward such as a toy, food or a box of candies, chocolates and a balloon.

  • CATCH THE BALL

According to Education.com, this game is a fun outdoor game which parent and child can play in the backyard. All they need is a soft ball. The most important rule for this game is: ALWAYS BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT THE CHILD HARD WITH THE BALL, ESPECIALLY IN THE FACE. Children love running and playing and this is one of the best way to exercise, which improves the child’s bodily-kinesthetic skills.

  • HIDE AND SEEK

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, a very popular game that everyone knows how to play this game, you just need to hide, and let his/her playmate seek him/her! To be more creative, you can use mascots and camouflage yourself with the objects around you so your child will be more curious with his/her environment. Once your child finds you from where they are hiding, give him/her a reward for his keen detective skills.
